Wheel of Three

Wheel of Three

Our mind goes through three states all the time. Happy, Sad and neither.

Continuously we experience one of these states all the time. How long you stay in one state changes time to time. We generally feel time moves fast when we are happy. Sad state feels like never ending. But in general we can observe that we constantly move from one state to another.

Different types of methods can induce one of the states. Trying to maintain it as long as we can. General assumption is that no one sustains or enjoy sadness. Believe it or not but sadness can derive pleasure. Observe it carefully we do take pleasure out of it if you are honest in your observations.

Even if you induce happiness. As some weird methods of meditations are taught by some. You can read about it or already practicing it. Induce happy feeling to stay happy. It’s absurd. Once you see how mind constantly moves between three states naturally you will understand the absurdity of inducing happiness to become happy.

None of those states can be sustained for more than 20 minutes. Using twenty minutes as a general timeline to indicate its impermanence. Yes you may have heard that so and so can mediate for hours etc. As long as your mind is moving it will experience these three states. If you are imagining or visualize things and call it meditation? You are bound by this wheel of three states. You can induce neither sad or happy state and call it peace. And try to sustain it. Twenty minutes meditation. You are wasting your time.

It’s like putting a child in a timeout. It will obey. Some one told me once that they don’t even need a watch or timer. Mind automatically comes back exactly at set time he wanted meditation to end. Computers can do that. I call it daydreaming on a timer. You are inducing two of the three states and ending up in a dream state. In Dream mind will continue to move in three states naturally.

I am not talking about three states of mind , namely conscious, dreaming and deep sleep. I am only referring to the feelings. Feelings that is a result of senses. Senses are five. Touch, smell, vision, taste and hearing. These senses activate or gives rise to the feeling of happiness, sadness or neither.

See it yourself. Only firsthand knowledge can free your mind. See how your mind moves without controls put by you. Where that controlling you is also a part of the same mind. We already talked about the perpetual war in the searching of wildernesses.

None of these three states are permanent. Your mind or you have to realize the impermanence of each movement. Constantly morphing itself from one state to another.
If you realize that you are bound to this movement you will see the boundaries or limitations of your mind. You can go on training and practicing ways to change one state to another but there is no escape from it. will save you some time. If you do not see that your mind is trapped in these three states. Or do not have any reason or desire to find if it can be changed completely? Stop reading. Continue to live with what you have been doing.

If you are honest to yourself! You will find out that everything revolves around you. You want to find a permanent happiness. Look deep on what you want. What is the motivation of all things you do and things you want. May be you have realized that you are trapped in these three states and dissatisfied with everything within and outside. Just let the mind move on it own moving in these three states.

Why others perceive those who are dissatisfied with everything as negative or depressed or negative thinkers?
If you are one of those dissatisfied ones? I would say you are not negative or a depressed person. You enjoy happy feelings to the best of you can. Moves into sad and be sad or be neither. what’s wrong with that? Why imagine happy thoughts when you are sad. It’s like trying to cover it by applying make up. Then you that is sad which is a fact and now you have this imaginary you that is not you. And you put all your energy into it to keep it alive.

Hope you see how you are creating an image of yourself. You are worshiping it and pouring all your energy to maintain it. May be by wrong methods of meditation, staying positive based on what positive means to others. Hoping to be the best based on images that are already created by others.

Only way to break the image and be truly free is to find it first hand.

All you have to realize that it’s the nature of your mind to move through these three states that are the result of the contact with the world you are living in.

Stay with fact that it’s a feeling that is a result of outside contact with your senses.
Don't invent new ideas to change it or desire it to be permanent. You have done that already. Look around and ask yourself. Are you happy?
Realize that it seems permanent but it is not.

Then what happens? You become negative! That was a joke. Let others say whatever they think what you are. You are showing them what you really are and they are looking at themselves. Your mind is now only reflecting what is around.

My neighbor is a very active woman. Everything is planned. Right down to the minute. Not only for herself but also for her husband and children. Constantly doing something.
Moment her feet hits the ground she runs. Has a job . Great life from outside.
She eventually retired. Had all planned right down to her and husband’s funeral. That day came and his funeral was a great success. Just like it was planned.

Why we feel sad and lonely when people around us go away and we find our self alone?

Is it because we find ourselves alone and that makes us sad and lonely?

I think deep down we are lonely. It just surfaces when all entertainment and other images disappear. Then we are left with our own and this large ocean of lonely, dark place. Call it a boredom. Call it whatever you like. Makes you feel uncomfortable. Deep instinct prompts you to do something about it. You look for entertainment to escape. Anything to escape from it. Including this reading.

Eventually life come down to this ocean. You can churn it day and night, life after life hoping to find the nectar or permanent happiness.

See the motivation of all of the things you do. If you are finding yourself in the ocean try not to escape. Just watch. Even in that state you will find the movement of the three we are discussing. It feels like an ocean. We are all part of it. That is one thing we all have in common. In order to escape from it we separate from it. Which separates us from each other. Thinking you are different. Thinking you are an individual with free will. Look again.

 Are you?
