Searching Rama, Sita and Laxman

Searching Rama, Sita and Laxman

Rama, Sita and Laxman; always three of them together, you do not see one of them by themself. Even if you do see them individually? you won't recognize them. It is not about how they look. or what features they have. When young I use to ask this question as a fun conversation with my grand mother. What was Rama's last name?

If you see three figures of human beings standing; Two men and a female on its left you instantly recognize it as them. Sometimes artist also add a half human at the feet, which you recognize as Hanuman.Rama always seen as blue.
His skin color is always blue. That is also another way to show that Rama is not a human as we know about humans. If you see blue human figure standing itself. It is probably Lord Shiva or Krishna. Strangely both are also blue. But blue Rama with Sita Ma wearing a Regent sari and Yellow Laxman.

That is what we are after. Why this representation has  continued for so many years. Rama is considered as God and one of the most worshiped deity by Hindus?

Besides the fact that we worship symbols. Look into it in this way. It is nothing new. It's right there in plain sight. Take this with grain of salt until you find it yourself. These are only one mans observations. Especially when you read to the end and find out what he has observed. It may be disturbing for some of you.

Blue in the center represents power. For a lack of better word. Power in the sense that you are still, untouched. no matter what is thrown at you, you are like a mountain; unmovable.

Pink or Magenta on the right is pure creation. She wants to be something good. Always giving. She is also merciful with healing powers. She is creation.

Yellow is the intellect. You can call it wisdom. It knows from what is right and wrong to maintain its existence. It protects and provides so both Blue and Magenta can function and sustain its existence.

To understand these three you need a messenger. This is where the Hanuman is presented. It is your mind. Simple as that. Hanuman represents your mind. Understand Dasabodha written by Shri. Swami Samarth Ramdas and you will understand Hanuman. Which is you. Yes! you may not agree with me. Think deep and research within.

There are two kinds of people in this world.
One those who are continuously running after things. From this to that.  Their mind is constantly working. Going from this subject to that subject. Continuously going in to the past memories. Trying to re live old days, jumping from this dream to that dream. Restless like a monkey.

Other type of people who are also restless but not satisfied with anything. They do see the impermanence in everything. Understand the monkey business but yet not free. Still looking; Searching. Yearning to be free. Wanting to be a whole human being. Those are Hanumans.

In the long history of humans there are many events where this symbol has been destroyed. Lets not blame anyone but the overall theme is consistent. Destroy where this symbol is worshiped in any shape or form. It may have been the lack of understanding of its true meaning or simply sinister and deliberate. But it lives. it continues to exist.

Entire Ramayana is represented by this symbol. Where can I find the meaning of this ever changing, most sought after symbol? Why it has been carved in stones? Pay attention. it's practically everywhere. Why those stones are destroyed and rebuilt again and again?

All of this is described at the end of the Ramayana epic itself when Sita offers a pearl necklace to Hanuman. I will not repeat the whole story verbatim as I have not read any of those written records. Thanks to the constant repetition of Ramayan stories I had to listen when I was a child.
When Hanuman was offered a pearl necklace he started to break each pearl with his teeth and throwing it away. Those who watched his behavior and inquired why is he destroying those expensive pearls? He replied by saying that he only valued things that has Rama in it.

Sita heard Hanuman's comment and asked. "Do you have Rama in you?". "Yes, indeed!" He replied . Sita challenged him to prove it. This angered Hanuman and he ripped his chest open with his two hands. And behold everyone witness the glowing image of Rama, Sita and Laxman in the center of his heart.

There it is. Right there where it lives. It lives in your heart. It shimmers like a diamond, flickers like a star and dances like a flame. How big is it? that depends on person to person.

Don't take my word for it. You do not have to rip the chest apart to see it. So let's not get any weird ideas.
Sit in a comfortable position. Simply watch where your monkey mind is going. Once your heart beat is beating normal simply focus your attention in the center of your chest. Do not try to imagine the flame. Just mentally watch.Make a wish that the only thing that matters to you is to see it. If you have it? You will see it. It will reveal it to you.

What does that mean if I have it? Yes you heard it right.  Not all human beings has this flame. There is nothing to be alarmed or discouraged about it. Those who have it do not know about it. Do not think that if you have it makes you special either. It simply means you have it.
Once you are aware of its existence or non existence; Your life will change. Not because of its presence. but because you are now aware of its presence. It is not something you can imaging or posses. It is a living thing. What relationship you have with it?. I say none. You can desire it all day long. It will communicate with you when it wants to.

All you can do is to wait, look up like a Chataka bird that waits for the monsoon rain to drop from the sky.

What separates you from it? Is you!. Understand your desires and wants and you will no longer look up in the sky for answers.

As long there is the monkey mind! You will remain half human and half animal.
